Where Winds Meet

Introduction & Platform Choice

This guide covers key points for new players starting the mobile version of Where Wind Meets, an open-world MMORPG.

  • Platform Recommendation: While a PC version exists, using an emulator like LDPlayer can save device storage and allows graphics customization.
  • How to Get Started: Search for "Where Wind Meets" in the LD Store to download and install.

Core Gameplay Overview

The game features a vast, unrestricted open world with wuxia-inspired movement and combat.

  • Freedom of Movement: You can walk, run, jump, attack, climb terrain, and use qinggong (lightness skill) without limits.
  • Combat & Weapons: Each character can equip two weapons, switchable during combat. Available weapons include:
    • Sword, Spear, Fan, Staff, Blade, Dual Blades, Chain, and Divine Darts.
  • Beginner Tip: When starting, it is highly recommended to use Mingchuan Medicine for its healing effect, increasing your margin for error.
  • Ranged Option: You can switch to a bow for long-range attacks.
  • Interactive World: NPCs have reactive AI. Attacking them may cause them to become angry and retaliate or chase you.

Character Progression & Equipment

  • Equipment System: There are 10 types of character equipment. Refining can increase an equipment's tier.
  • Resource Priority: With limited starting resources, prioritize cultivating attack-type items like weapons or accessories to raise your attack power first.

Monetization & Cosmetics

The game is not pay-to-win. The primary monetization is optional and focused on convenience and cosmetics.

  • Recommended Purchases (Optional):
    1. Monthly Card: Grants immediate currency (Everlasting Pearls, Tongbao) and daily login bonuses (Everlasting Jade, Battle Pass EXP). Logging in for 20 days grants the Bird's Song.
    2. Battle Pass: Offers good rewards based on your activity level. Purchase depends on your budget.
  • Cosmetic System: A major selling point with no attribute increases. Includes:
    • Clothing sets, mounts (e.g., the new "Fleetfoot"), weapon appearances, special martial arts effects, and funny accessories/headgear.

Starting Your Journey

  • First Steps: Upon entering the game, follow and complete the main story chapter quests. This is the primary way to unlock new maps.
  • Map Exploration: Each map has landmarks (gray=locked, golden=unlocked). Unlocking landmarks grants experience and allows fast travel via teleportation.

Leveling Up & Experience

Leveling is very flexible. Experience is gained from almost all activities, not just combat.

  • Ways to Gain EXP:
    • Unlocking map landmarks.
    • Completing main, side, or random passerby quests.
    • Gathering plants and resources.
    • Participating in events and gameplay modes.

Events & Gameplay Modes

  • Events: Check the "Jianghu" events tab for login rewards and special activities.
  • Growth Benefits: Leveling up grants various treasure chests.
  • Path of the Conqueror: Leveling also rewards equipment and outfits.
  • Gameplay Modes: Divided into several categories:
    • For Combat/Quests: Challenge, Taiping Wumu, Trial, and Bounty.
    • For PvP: Zige.
    • For Casual Play: Casual Cooperation.

Casual Cooperation & Mini-Games

The Casual Cooperation mode is split into Roaming and Leisure Fun, featuring various mini-games.

  • Leisure Activities Examples: Magpie God Domination (4-player dominoes), sumo wrestling, pitch-pot, guess-the-hidden-object, leaf cards, cuju (ancient football), and more.
  • How it Works: Participate in these activities at designated locations to earn scores and rewards.
  • Example: Sumo Wrestling: A fast-matchmaking mini-game based on predicting your opponent's moves (charge, attack, defend). Win or lose, you still get rewards.
