Where Winds Meet

This guide covers the acquisition methods and practical assessments for all extraordinary arts (Qishu) in PvE mode, sorted by the region and progression order in which you can obtain them.

Qinghe Region Arts

These are the foundational arts you can acquire early in the game in the Qinghe area.

Core Puzzle & Combat Arts

These four arts are essential for both puzzle-solving and combat throughout the game.

  • Tai Chi
    • Acquisition: Follow the initial tutorial. You will see a bear using Tai Chi. Steal the technique from it to learn.
    • Utility: Used for puzzles (e.g., pushing leaves) and pushing NPCs. In combat, it can throw small enemies and, crucially, break enemy shields with multiple uses. Less effective against bosses or groups.
  • Golden Jade Hand (Pressure Point Attack)
    • Acquisition: Go to the Wanshi Shop in Qinghe. Interact with the old man there to learn it.
    • Utility: Primarily used for puzzles (e.g., fixing poses, breaking rings in Kaifeng). In combat, it can immobilize regular enemies with a chance but cannot be used on bosses.
  • Shooting Star, Grasping Moon
    • Acquisition: Travel to Shenxian Crossing and speak with the NPC Qiu Yuehai.
    • Utility: Out of combat, used to steal items or telekinetically grab treasure chests. In combat, it can snatch an enemy's weapon and throw it back, with special QTEs against bosses. Has a long cooldown (40s).
  • Soaring Cloud Step
    • Acquisition: At the bottom of General's Pool. Help the little boy find his ball, use "Thousand Jin Fall" to stomp the ground, and follow the side quest to investigate a corpse.
    • Utility: Essential for traversal, allowing you to fly across gaps. In combat, it deals high damage to enemies with unstable footing and is excellent for chasing down mobile bosses.

Qinghe Side & Quest Arts

These arts require specific exploration or side activities in Qinghe.

  • Lion's Roar Shaking Body
    • Acquisition: Ring four specific bells in Qinghe. Locations: inside General's Pool, near General's Pool (from Wanshi Shop waypoint), in Barren Stone Forest (from Wandering Soul Village), and near the Foye Stronghold outpost.
    • Utility: Primarily used in multiplayer co-op modes, often paired with Golden Toad Leap. Not frequently used in single-player PvE.
  • Golden Toad Leap
    • Acquisition: At General's Pool, near the first bell. Lock eyes with the NPC "Where Wind Meets Evil God" and steal the technique from the toad.
    • Utility: Similar to Lion's Roar, it is more recommended for multiplayer modes than single-player.
  • Entrusted Formation (Buddha's Palm)
    • Acquisition: Complete Chapter Seven: "Thousand Buddha Zen Void" in the Xiaji menu.
    • Utility: A highly recommended single-player art. To activate its powerful "Dharma-Ending Blue Lantern" (Buddha's Palm) attack, you must jump first, then use "Thousand Jin Drop" while in the air. Pair with Soaring Cloud Step for height if Qinggong is disabled in an area.
  • Meteor Fall Fire
    • Acquisition: At Bitter Dike, Bitter Sea (upper-right Qinghe). Unlock the Guardian gameplay and challenge the boss Ye Wanshan. During the fight, dodge his red-glowing jump attacks to fill an "eye" gauge on the right of his health bar. Fill it to learn. You can focus solely on dodging in one round.
    • Utility: Deals considerable 3-stage damage with damage reduction and super armor. However, it consumes 60 Essence and has a long wind-up, making it hard to use effectively early on. Recommended for players who enjoy flashy arts.
  • Eagle Claw Continuous Peck
    • Acquisition: At the Spring and Autumn Villa (below Qinghe). Cross the bridge, go down the side, and interact with a group of eggs to steal the technique from an eagle.
    • Utility: Rarely used in PvE. Its main role is breaking enemy defense in multiplayer Zhige mode.
  • Red Dust Burying Wood
    • Acquisition: Break the "Red Dust Five Eyes" in the Juan Room.
    • Utility: Functions as a smoke bomb, causing enemies to lose their target. This allows you to follow up with "Lingxu Yizi" for a sneak attack. Consumes 80 Essence and is useless against bosses since Lingxu Yizi doesn't work on them.
  • Lingxu Yizi (Must-have General Art)
    • Acquisition: Complete Volume One: "The Land Remains as Before" in the Xiaji menu.
    • Utility: A highly recommended general art. Pair it with the "March Without Shadow" Heart Method to increase its range and damage, enabling an effective assassin-style gameplay for clearing exploration mobs.
  • Taibai Drunken Joy
    • Acquisition: Go to Hefeng Town in Qinghe. Buy about 8 bottles of wine from the genuine goods merchant and drink them all to reach a "dead drunk" state. If you get alcohol poisoning, teleport to the Living Person Clinic to cure it.
    • Utility: This art becomes extremely powerful when combined with Divine Dragon Spits Fire (obtained in Kaifeng). The combo is considered top-tier (T0/T1).
  • Breeze Sacrificial Music
    • Acquisition: Directly unlock it in the talent tree.
    • Utility: Mainly used in multiplayer Zhige mode to break control and counterattack. Less used in PvE.
  • Firefly Waving Leaves
    • Acquisition: Capture multiple fireflies at once. A recommended location is at the tombstones in Danya at night. Be quick as they run away.
    • Utility: Creates a light source for 30 seconds, useful in dark areas with traps. Overall practicality is not very high.
  • Bite the Formless
    • Acquisition: At the bottom right of Hidden Valley 3. Pick up the "Steal Techniques" quest there and complete it.
    • Utility: Provides temporary invisibility, best used in combination with "Lingxu Yizi." It slows enemy detection, allowing you to set up ambushes or reposition during boss fights. Consumes less Essence than Red Dust Burying Wood, making it more viable early on.
  • Moth's Cry
    • Acquisition: Near Buxian. Accept the "Who's the Boss" quest and steal the technique from the moth bullying a bear.
    • Utility: A solid mid-to-late game art. While its damage is not high and it consumes 70 Essence, it triggers a 6-second (7.5s when upgraded) bullet time effect, useful for healing or repositioning during combat.
  • Yaksha Breaks Demons
    • Acquisition: Reach 6000 Hydrogen Core exploration progress and complete "Night Has Souls" in Volume 8 of the Xiaji menu.
    • Utility: An armor-breaking move recommended for multiplayer, but also usable in PvE. Its overall damage is slightly higher than Eagle Claw Continuous Peck.
  • Heavenly Eagle Leg Technique (Name implied from context)
    • Acquisition: With 6000 Hydrogen Core progress, repeatedly challenge the Heavenly Eagle boss at Thin Light Cauldron. During the boss's second phase, use specific moves to accumulate proficiency against its leg technique.
    • Utility: Deals good damage, can hard-control a single enemy in the air, and has a relatively short wind-up. Usable in both PvE and multiplayer.

Kaifeng Region Arts

Once you reach Level 32 and arrive in Kaifeng, prioritize obtaining these powerful arts.

  • Divine Dragon Spits Fire
    • Acquisition:
      1. Unlock the Kaifeng City East Cross Street teleport point.
      2. Follow the route to find two NPCs and trigger a quest.
      3. One NPC will ask you to retrieve a secret manual.
      4. Go to the Vermilion Bird Gate teleport point, head west along the rooftops, and find the NPC carrying the manual.
      5. Use Shooting Star, Grasping Moon on him to steal it.
      6. Return to East Cross Street and give the manual to Luo Jiu.
    • Utility: A top-priority art. It inflicts a combustion effect. When combined with Taibai Drunken Joy, it triggers massive explosive damage. Highly recommended to get as soon as you reach Kaifeng.
  • Strange Dragon Turns Back (Qi Dragon Returns)
    • Acquisition:
      1. Go to Kaifeng Forbidden Altar and enter the cave.
      2. Navigate to the end, climb up the rocks on the right to bypass an unreachable ledge.
      3. Find a treasure chest containing the "Secret Passage Key."
      4. Travel to Wannan Cliff, find a hidden door, and enter.
      5. Use the key on the door inside, jump down the hole, and walk the opposite direction.
      6. Unlock the "Secret Forging Style" teleport point.
      7. Enter the nearby room, jump up, follow the path, and step on a statue.
      8. Use Shooting Star, Grasping Moon on the treasure chest that appears (or jump and open it quickly if in combat).
    • Utility: A top-tier (T0) art. It consumes very little Essence (15), has a fast cooldown, and deals high damage if both hits connect. It has a built-in interrupt effect and is excellent for filling weapon skill cooldown gaps.
  • White Ghost Acupoint Strike
    • Acquisition: Inside the Jiaomen Gate of Kaifeng City. Follow the route to trigger a small quest and complete it.
    • Utility: Highly recommended. It can immobilize up to six enemies at once, consumes only 30 Essence, and has a 15-second cooldown. It can also break through blocking enemies. Extremely useful against groups, but cannot be used on single-target bosses.
  • Formless Golden Body
    • Acquisition: Go to the Daxiangguo Temple teleport point in Kaifeng. Enter and keep right to find an NPC practicing martial arts. Use Shooting Star, Grasping Moon on him to learn.
    • Utility: Grants health recovery and a shield/toughness effect for 8 seconds. When upgraded, it can convert leftover shield into HP and, at level 3 with high Essence, become a group shield. Primarily valuable as a support skill in multiplayer team battles.

Ghost Market Arts

You can access the Ghost Market later in the story or earlier via a side quest from Qinghe's Dujiang Post.

  • Yin Yang Lost Step
    • Acquisition: From the Ghost Market teleport point, go to the cave at the bottom right. Open the final treasure chest inside.
    • Utility: Reduces stamina consumption for dodge skills by 50% for 20 seconds. However, since blocking is often preferred in PvE, this art sees less frequent use.
  • Snatch from Dog's Mouth (Dog Beating Staff Technique)
    • Acquisition: From the Ghost Market teleport point, follow the route and jump up along the edge to find a treasure chest.
    • Utility: Deals good damage, with even higher damage against enemies with unstable footing.

Late-Game Unlock Art

  • Night Dragon Palm
    • Acquisition: Automatically unlocked when you have learned a total of 35 Extraordinary Arts (including general and wind-controlling arts).
    • Utility: A late-game ultimate move with super high damage (over 1600% multiplier) and homing effect. However, it consumes 100 Essence (requiring extensive collection of Essence items) and has a 120-second cooldown.

  • Top Recommended Combo: Use Strange Dragon Turns Back (Qi Dragon Returns) as a core skill, paired with Divine Dragon Spits Fire and Taibai Drunken Joy for massive damage output.
  • Against Groups: Use White Ghost Acupoint Strike to immobilize multiple enemies.
  • Early Game (Qinghe): Use Soaring Cloud Step paired with Entrusted Formation (Buddha's Palm) for damage. Use Bite the Formless with Lingxu Yizi for stealth ambushes.
  • Utility: Lingxu Yizi is a must-have general art for exploration and assassin-style gameplay.
